About This Event

Members and Guests: Join Us for a Fascinating Journey into Early Frontier

History

We’re excited to have Luke Moore from Paducah, Kentucky join us for our next meeting

on Saturday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. His presentation is titled: "Revisiting the Powell Valley

Massacre of 1773."

Luke and his wife visited the Clinch and Powell Valleys two years ago, following the trail

of the Russell family as they tried to settle in Kentucky. They were especially

interested in finding the final resting place of Henry Russell, one of General Russell’s

sons. Luke wrote a short article about what he found and shared it with Russell family

descendants now living in Texas.

If you’d like to read more, Luke’s research is available for free download on his

Academia.edu page, or you can read it on the Historical Marker Database here:

https://www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=254045

Come and enjoy this presentation and welcome Luke and his wife back to Lee

County!
